12 Tips for curing the Writer’s Blocks ASAP

The Writer's Blocks

At some point in their career, content marketers as well as writers will experience a dreadful hump called the writer’s blocks. By far, it’s the worst enemy of every writer. The writer’s blocks, as the name implies, is a condition where a writer's mind turns blank and can’t think of anything to write about. While it doesn’t sound so horrible at first glance, not being able to write anything marks the end of a writer's career… So yes, it IS VERY HORRIBLE!

If you are suffering from the writer’s blocks and blogging or content marketing is a critical part of your online business, then you need to cure this condition as soon as possible. Otherwise, your business will end up in shambles. PERIOD!

If you think you’re suffering from the dreadful the writer’s blocks, make sure to take note of these pointers and suggestions:

Ask Questions:

This technique has always been a winner for me. The trick is once you already have a title/topic to write about, ask gazzilions of questions about it.

Once you’ve written down several questions, you just have to answer everything, and your article will then slowly come to life. You then just have to proof read and fine tune everything so the ideas flow smoothly and sprinkle it with some wordplays here and there.

DO NOT EVER edit:

I’m not sure if you’re even aware but editing is a different phase of writing. When you’re writing, allow the ideas to flow freely and try to catch-up with your fingers.

Once you’re finished writing your ideas, that’s when you start editing.

Editing mind you are a killer of ideas (at least that’s how I view it). The moment you stop writing just to edit a grammatical error, it blocks your mind and DRAMATICALLY slows you down.

Participate in events related to your niche:

Attending an event that is relevant to your niche is one of the best and fastest tips for curing the writer’s blocks.  If your niche is about weight loss, for instance, join a panel discussion, industry conference or a lecture about fitness and weight loss products. Once you are in the event, make sure to take notes and ask questions.

By taking notes on an event, you now have substantial and fresh materials that you can use to create informative, topical and interesting contents.

Social media sites:

Social Media Break
Social media sites can be such as waste of time. However, these sites can be a source of inspiration for your next blog post or press release. On social media sites, there are tons of creative status updates and quotes that can spark new ideas.

Turn off your computer:

Your brain has to relax before it can come up with a new insight. Thus, staring at your laptop’s screen for minutes won’t work. If you try to force developing an insight, you might be preventing it from appearing.

Try other content formats:

Content marketers sometimes find themselves stuck in creating blog posts. In this case, they fail to recognize that there are other formats for the contents available at their disposal.

If you are suffering from this hump, you might want to try other content formats, such as using a sequence of GIFs, an info graphic, or a video. Basically, a new content format might spark new ideas, which could rescue you from the writer’s block.

Watch TV      :

Online contents, particularly blog posts, are usually useful, informative and engaging to your niche and target audience. So, by watching TV shows that are also useful, informative and engaging, you will be able to warm up your ideas and set up your mind-set. Once you decide to start writing, the words and phrases will flow into your mind much easier.

If you are promoting your products through press releases, watch news from your television, and get ideas on how the newscasters and reporters deliver their news. Like newscasters, you must be able to create contents that are intriguing and compelling.

Grab a bite:

Maybe, your brain needs more nutrients to function better and faster. If you think you are suffering from the writer’s blocks, take a break, and enjoy a healthy and nutritious snack.

Change your scenery or location:

A change of location or scenery will help cure the writer’s blocks. If you are working from home, you might want to move from your office to the porch, balcony or living room.

Use the World Wide Web for ideas and inspiration:

The internet has a wealth of ideas and information that can help you get over the hump. Visit the top websites and blogs that are relevant to your niche, and get some interesting ideas from them.

Once you have found ideas from other websites, though, make sure that the content you are going to write is not a direct rip-off of their ideas. As a content marketer, it is your responsibility not to plagiarize other’s work. To check if your content is unique and original, use Copyscape and other online plagiarism checkers.

Ask help from your followers and readers:

If you were able to develop a good following from your blog, ask suggestions from your loyal readers and followers. If possible, let your readers dictate the contents and topics of your new material. Maybe, your readers have ideas that can be useful for your content marketing.
